Cotopaxi Knowledge Bowl team in contention for state

The Cotopaxi High School Knowledge Bowl team led all day before falling in the final round to La Veta at the Class 1A Region 2-San Luis competition in Alamosa on Jan. 28.

“It was a tough last round,” Cotopaxi coach Lou Collins said. “We ended up two points behind La Veta for second. We are in a good place for getting a wild card spot, but we will not know for a few weeks.”

Amelia Tonneson and Noah Jamerson led the Pirates at the 19-team competition held at Adams State College. They took part in written and oral rounds with teammates Drayven Bowton, Sage Laymon, Kaytee Fergusen and Lydia Tonneson.

Colorado Knowledge Bowl consists of 10 different geographic regions and its nearly 200 schools, large and small, come from all corners of the state.

The Colorado Knowledge Bowl 2020 State Tournament will be held at Colorado State University in Fort Collins on March 16 and 17.
